Explorations' Christmas ornament!

Christmas is coming! So it's time for some DIYs and festive decorations!

There's no Christmas without a tree or festive decorations! Can you imagine Christmas without a tree? The custom of Christmas decorations has a long history. In Europe, the tradition of decorating trees originated in Germany. The first ornaments were produced there.  However, the first ornaments that were used to decorate trees in Germany were... fruits, nuts, biscuits and garlands! Over time, they started to make ornaments from glass and wood so that they would be more durable. Today we can find them in any form, material and design we can ever imagine!

So how about making an ornament for your tree?

Download the #ECM_Christmas_Ornament here and make the Museum’s ornament!

What will you need?

  • a pair of scissors
  • markers or crayons
  • glue
  • ribbon or thread

How do we start?

  • Print the ornament pattern and paint it as you like!
  • Then, cut the blue outline of the ornament with your scissors.  If the scissors are difficult for you, just ask for help.
  • Now fold each of the pink lines of the pattern. Fold all sides in order to make a cube.
  • After you make the cube, glue on the parts where you find the "glue", symbol.

And your ornament is ready!

But something's missing! How will you hang it on your tree? Use the scissors to make a small hole in the center of one side of your cube. Thread a ribbon through the hole, tie a knot and… voila! Your ornament is now ready

Don't forget to send us a photo of your ornaments!
